Hi All,
Went out to Maroon dam yesterday for a flick. Started the day(6.30am) on surface lures fishing over the flooded weed. We got about 10 bass on surface ranging from 25cm to 35cm in lenght. At around 7.30am the sun came out from behind the clouds which in turn shut the surface bite down. We started to fish the weed edges with soft plastics like last week but no avail. We changed to spinnerbaits and fished the broken weed edges and then it was on. In the end I ended up with 30+ bass and my father inlaw got around 15 bass for the day. In all it was a good day and to see it rain more out there is a good sign of thinks to come.
Cheers
Jesper
Was out there on Friday myself (two blokes in blue polycraft!) and the fishing was pretty good. All our fish were caught on spinnerbait with black/red being the favoured colour.
The weather was unpredicable at best, with high gusty winds, heavy rain, blue skies...it nearly felt like Melbourne.
The algae appears to be back in full strength, but at this stage it doesnt seem to be affecting the fish. Pity this big low is coming in, else I would be back out there next week. But I will keep my fingers crossed.
Hi Nic,
I was using a mazzy pop. They not only pop on the surface but when retreived they swim a foot under water with a wiked action. They are avalible at tackleword underwood. I attached a photo of one.
Cheers
