Hi Pete,
You can get Nomad Uluas from some tackle shops or from the Nomad website.
These lure are proven for monster GT!
They've been designed by Nomad Sportsfishing charters in the Coral Sea!
Cy and Kerrin Taylor
Whitsundays Qld
They are fairly new lures so they are still being stocked in new tackle shops.
I think M.O Tackle should start to stock them soon.
They are around $60 - $70 AUD without rings & hooks.

fish head at redland bay has them i am pretty sure and he has a website
cheers matt
$60-$70!!! for a $3 retail lump of lead with some colour!! and some SS wire, Holy snap!!.
Great fish by the way, the type a person needs to be ready for...one day.
cheers fnq
If you see these lures at the tackle store you can see why they charge so much. They are a rather schmick lure.. I'd probably pay $40 for one. But $70+ terminal tackle is alot to chew on.
specially when these GT's can blow you to bits inside 3 seconds. bye bye $100...
but then again, I have been using halco haymakers up there only to have follows and no takes. Maybe these big GT's are fussy and know quality when they see it

Hay cy,
Where abouts of the Whitsundays did you get those nuggets? (not the precise location) I've been to Shoalwater bay and found you had to go out to the outer islands to chase the bigger gt's... Im thinking of goin there next year but do i need to travel as far out..?
cheers BD
BD,
The largest GT was caught on the mainland edges near Shute Harbour on the Ulua.
Nomad charters, who do guiding at Shoalwater Bay, Marion, Wreck & Bugatti Reef have been catching some great fish on stickbaits.
Huge GT, Dogtooth Tuna, Wahoo, Marlin & Sailfish, giant Coral Trout etc. have all been caught.
You can also troll these lures for good results although we haven't tried it yet.

Last time I was up that way I hooked plenty of these monsters - Torium 30, 60lb braid, still didn't have a hope in hell of stopping them from the pontoon.
Great catch - I'll be back up there in Feb to give it another go
Some nice fish there!
If you're chasing Ulua's check out Bluewater WA's website. I got a few from there, cheapest I've seen.
Using large single hooks can give these lures a better hook up as well.
Singles hooks which are great to use are:
- Owner Cutting point 10/0's
- Owner Stinger Single's 7/0
- Owner SJ-51's 11/0
- Decoy Jigging Singles 10/0
It pays to trim the barb too as these hooks would take a long time to rust out of the fish's mouth if you lost the lure to a fish.
We had a poor hook-up rate for a while until a great GT fisherman told us how to set the hooks with these lures.
It's like a giant 3 or 4 sets as the fish turns on the lure.
It really helped the hooks stick to the mouth of the fish and we landed a lot more.

Never landed one of these critters in my years of camping at Scrub Hen, Nari's and Joe's beach on Whitsunday Island, but bagged my fair share of smaller ones to 10kg. We would see the bigger ones chasing bait schools onto the beaches and having half their body body out of the water and nearly beaching themselves. Was a scary sound at night !!
Managed bigger ones outside around Border Island and Boulder Island using homemade poppa's. They were cheaper to lose.......
