    Caloundra and BliBli barra park

    hi
was up at caloundra for a week and was planning on a bit of fishing due to the funny weather managed to get out 3 times. sunday morning my parents and sister went to the markets and dropped me off at the boardwalk chasing bream, started off with 2" minnows not a touch, 3 " gulp minnows nothing so i went stuff it go back to my favourite plastic for catching anything (6" natural sandworm) started flicking under neath the boardwalk and by the pylons for all but 1 butterbream . so i got a bit bored and decided to let the sandworm cut down to 4"'s drift across with a few slight jigs every 10 seconds and all of a sudden zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz i first hooked it by the stairs down to the water then ended up catching it around la promenade i couldn't see it for about 2 mins it stripped drag off easily and the first to actually see my fish was the people sitting down at the restaurant eating their breakfast and drinking their tea and coffee getting disturbed by my drag screaming off my reel and through the sic guides on my t-curve and eventually bought in a nice 40cm golden trevally my first ever trevally and on a soft plastic too i was pumped .

    WEDNESDAY: BliBli barra park
got here at about 9:15 and within the first 5 minutes my uncle was on his first barra on soft plastics 2nd session on soft plastics for him and my 200th plus session all up 23 barra to me 21 to my uncle and 2 to my dad all on soft plastics. Now the exciting bit my last barra of the day caught at roughly 3:30 in the big boys pond it grabbed my hook and screemed off around the perimetre and my uncle grabbed the net and and said lets chase it due to using 6lb fireline and 20lb leader it ran around the outside not even slowing up a bit i ended up running to the other corner of the pond for my uncle to grab the net and sprint with me to run it down with my t-curve bending like spaghetti and me and my uncle sprinting only gettiong a visual 3 - 4 minutes into the fight ending up with a 10 minute fight and it only just managed to fit in the net i brang a large environet and its tail still hung out of then net... now to carry it back to where the camera and tape was my uncle is pretty big and strong but he struggled a bit to carry it on the tape it measured 82cm and my uncle guessed at a bit over 10kg's. put her back and swam away to fight another day .

thursday boring as all but 1 mullet on a gulp camo worm keeps you a bit entertained.

    any way merry christmas.

    regards,
    keechie

Nice fish mate, try the old thong lure next time you're at the Barra Park. Just a cut up brown thong with a hook glued on it to imitate the pellets they feed them.

Fantastic stuff mate, just what everyone wants out of a holiday. Some great fish, looks like you're really working those plastics well.
