Needing tips on a decent estuary rod
Guys,
Well as most of you know im a tweed basher and am currently looking at purchasing a new rod and reel combo.
Just wanted to get people's idea's as to what combo i would be looking for keeping in mind it would be good if it was affordable ($150 - $250) and where I might find one.
All input and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For the price range, I got a Shimano backbone elite $80 (Nerang disposals), and a Stradic 2500 for 150 (new, ebay). The drag is very smooth and the rod is top value, as they are being discontinued.

I would go a Berkley Dropshot 2-4kg which would cost around $100 matched with a Shimano Seido 2500 which is around $130, great reels.

mate another option would be to grab a daiwa sol,
should be able to find em for just over the $200 mark if you shop around.
Dont be shy to take up certain shops on their 10% price guarantees etc...
so say you get the sol,
go grab a sss or Catana rod by shimano,
B & C & F have em for $40 on special or $50 normally so there you will get a hell of a reel and a reasonable rod for a bit more than your talking unless u can shop around.
The reel is a major player here, but in saying that so is the rod...
I had a Shimano raider which i had in for warranty so used one of these in the mean time and would have to say it was just as good and managed to pull a heap of quality fish.
if u go down this road the Catana/SSS rod to get is the 702 spin (7ft, 2-4kg)
good luck with it, you will have a ball
