    rainshadow travel rod blanks?

    hi guys
about to try a new build , wondered if any one has tried the rainshadow blanks? from cabelas in the states . im looking at trying out the rx6 travel blanks for a light weight plastics rod
if anyone one can recommend any other travel blanks id be interested as these are amongst the few i could find
also wondering if the action on a fly rod blank would be to slow to use as a plastics spin ?
    cheers for any advice

You can get fast fly rods too, but they aren't usually warranted for spin work.

Carl, I have an off the shelf 3 piece travel rod made by St Croix - it's the 7' MF3, good rod, great action with enough grunt to put on the hurt when needed, my rod is made from the same blank as the one above.

The price of the blank is almost as much as I paid for the rod when new about 4 or 5 years ago, buy the carry case for $50 elsewhere on the Mudhole site, and you could buy the same rod already made for the same money. They are the Tidemaster Travel range.

Mudhole at one point had Rain Shadow blanks, but no longer carry them - don't know why.

Whatever way you go, make sure it is a 3 piece, far superior action.

    cheers for your help guys
finished my rod yesterday , have a rainshow four piece blank ,usualy prefer 3 or 5 sections , but it feels ok . cast wieght says 1/16 - 5/16 but feels a little heavier , very fast feeling action . ive put a set of alconite guides on it in much the same size rings as my tcurve . also sporting a nice compressed bamboo handle and woven graphite reels seat
the finished rods feels great under load , gonna take her out for a fish this arvo
next project is going to be lighter still , want something more like the tcurve tournament , probobly a fly blank unless i find another company that goes lighter
thanks again for you pms fellas
