Myself and Foxy went hunting on Sunday for some surface action in the bay and it was dead. We left from Wellington point and headed up the middle of bay past harries and didn't find any birds until the SW side of the 4 beacons. These only turned out to be small schools of mac tuna and they didn't hang around long. Headed north up past tanga's and continued up past moreton Island trying all the beacons back nw into the shipping channel. Could only raise a few doggies and then came all the way back without any action anywhere. Did well over 120km and covered a good percentage of the bay so I'm convinced that if spotties are in the bay that they are few and fair between.

I have spoken to a guy who was getting some pelagics north of peel but what kind i don,t know. I have also seen them jumping out of the water there if that gives the type a clue.
Got one average size spotty at M9 a couple of weeks ago so they are in the bay. Were holding deep and wasn't a big school. Weren't too tempted to hit much either tried pillies, livies metals and plastics for not much luck at all.
saw big schools of mackeral just out 1-2 k out through the bar on the weekend, not sure if doggys or spottys, but there was alot of them out there scaring the bait fish
i went over to tanga on sunday. not a sighting.
Lets hope soon, when these damm northerlies go
