    Talking Help with rod selection

Hi guys just scored a daiwa capricorn 4000 series reel for fishig close ofshore say 24fathoms and a bit more it has 15 & 20 lb braid , i am looking for some rod to suit this style of fishing i am thinking something 6ft 6 in - 7 ft maybe 6-10kg . I would like to keep it under $200 any ideas would be great i know daiwa make a large range of rods but i see its a bit confusing i would normally buy shimano but i would like to try something a bit different ,thanks in advance ...matt

Hey Mate, that reel was swinging off a Flueger Contender, 6-10kg. It worked well, got it from ##### for around the $120 mark. There is also a Shimano Raider Snapper around the same money, nice rod but has the extended butt

No worries, If you can streach the budget, you wont be dissapointed with an Egrell Rod. Either an Egrell S10 or an S10 Bear ( a bit cheaper ) would be a good combo. It would double up as a good combo for chasing tuna aswell

If you normally buy shimano why change? Something from the T-curve range would be perfect.

The Bear is a heavier rod compared to the Egrell

    Re: Help with rod selection

I had a look at the T curve with similar specs and it apeared to be quit large and cumbersome and a bit heavy in the tip and not much cheaper i am going to have a look at the egrells in the flesh so to speak on friday out at sundown they also stock shimano so i will have a hands on comparison then ...matt

try a live fibre 8-10 kg spin you wont be dissapointed, probably not as good as and s10 but nowhere near as pricey

    Re: Help with rod selection

    Hey mate,

I wonder if you can find which rod you want in my shop.
There are many rods for your option. I'd wager they're not worse than Shimano or Daiwa, but much cheaper than that.

    Re: Help with rod selection

The Egrell is a high modulus and the Bear is an intermediate modulus. Both top shelf products. Both Bear and Egrell S10's will pull 30 lb braid no probs. Go and have a look and feel.
