Put the Kayak in the water in one of the glasshouse mountains creeks today at about 2pm for another attempt at getting my first Jack. I have been on a mission to get one for about the last 8 weeks and today was finally the day. I have tried all of the creeks up that way, but this was my first time to this particular stretch of water. First fish had me thinking good jack but alas it was another cod of about 45cms.(I must have caught 50 of these over the last few weeks, these creeks are riddled with them atm). Moved on to another snag and second cast my prayers were finally answered, and after a short but tough fight a 40cm jack was lifted from the water. Man these fish go hard. After a photo, the fish was returned to the water so I can catch him again next time. Managed another 28cm jack about an hour later along with another 4 cod all around the 30cm mark. Got monstered and blown away 4 times as well which were definately bigger jacks. I think I will be heading to this creek in future. All fish caught on prawnstars and 14lb line with 40lb leader.
Sorry about the pics. Pretty awkward in the kayak.
