Can someone please tell me the easiest way to tell the difference between a sweetlip and a grass emperor?

Do you mean a spangled emperor and grass sweetlip?

I'm not sure how I do it, but the grassy seems more brown/green to me and the spangled is alot more golden, but there's more too it than that

Best off to get a clear illustration of each and study it

Go to the post in offshore reports, "Barwon Banks wed" ,in the photo of the catch
Red throat sweetlip are on the left, grassie centre front,behind the moses perch.
Hope that helps.

The spangled has a noticebly longer nose and also a lot more blue spangles.

The Grass emperor seems to only have the blue spanglers around the eyes.

I'm no expert mind, it is just that I threw back a couple of Grassys because I thought they were undersized Spangles.

Hard way to learn. I now carry piks of both.
