Monduran Monsters
After reading all of these reports of rediculous barra at Monduran we decided it might be time to give it a go. It also made a nice change from the crowds at Awoonga.
Got there tues arvo and headed up casting the timber scoring a couple of big catties but no barra. Trolled the main basin for half hour right on sunset for an overeager 47cm bass on a barra classic + 15.
Next morning up at sparrows hours scoring a 93cm model on an Arafura barra right out front of the dam wall. Then took off to the sticks when there was a bit of light to get around. Had a big barra inhale a Rapala X-Rap 14 in B-Bay before tossing it right back in our faces on its first leap. Damn! Not too much else happening for us in the timber so went back for siesta and decided to troll the main basin that night.
Between 8 and 10 that night the dam was going off. Bait everywhere and barra smashing the surface, we even had garfish jumping in the boat. Put out a couple of rods, 1 being a Daiwa Sol 2500 with 10lb on a Shimano 7'2 raider, which id thrown in for bass. And of course thats the one that gets smashed. First a 116cm model, then a 107cm - my first metre barra! Scored another two at 81cm and 91cm all on arafura barras.
Definately will be back to nail one in the sticks!

Re: Monduran Monsters
Good stuff, good to hear the trollers hooking into some big monduran fish top stuff, that bait is awsome no wonder they are growing so quickly.
