Monduran Day Trip 12-12-07

After getting an invite from a good mate of mine Craig we did a quick day trip to Monduran and as predicted the fishing was reasonably tough.
Managed to hook a very nice barra early morning casting into the timber.
Hooked up right next to a cluster of sticks and the fish had me beat right from the start.He went right around the back of the trees then came out along side the boat jumping with my lure hanging from his gob.
We motored towards the trees to try and follow his path but then the fish turned and came back into the sticks.... .....Line was rubbing badly through them then pop.... .....Lost fish...a good fish of 90cm plus.... and he stole my favorite RMG..........
Continued casting and about 20 minutes later we moved to a different bay and I managed a nice fish just shy of 70cm.....went very hard too...
The rest of the day we casted our arms off for not a touch........

Wheezer I take back what I said....ok they are very powerfull

I heard that place has had alot of fishing pressure at the moment HAHAH BEST get rewarded
And yes Wheezer said that Barra are hyped up Bass on steriods HAHaha i Need one bahhaha!!!!

You sound like you have caught 'barra fever'.

While not fatal it is certainly an expensive disease. There is no cure!

Yeah, it's always a lot of hard work Pete. At least you got your reward, good onya. It's the kind of place you really have to put the hard yards into casting wise. But it's such a pretty spot, and with every cast and bit of structure looking like a potential fish, it's great fun (at least that's what I keep telling myself on those tough days).

Yeah will my stupidity really....Lets just just it aint a good idea to have half your rod hanging out the side...not paying attention and doing a lure change....
When it collides with a tree it comes off second best...
