    Pt Cartwright - Mooloolaba

    Hey Ausfishers

I am hoping to go rock fishing in the coming weeks, and was wondering how much success you guys have had fishing at Mooloolaba, mainly around Pt Cartwright, or any other locations.

any help is appreciated, thnx in advance.

There was a report a few weeks back about fellas hooking some big rays or something else large around there. I haven't fished it much as yet but am considering doing so over the next few months to get some more use out of the larger setup I've bought. Mackerel seem to be caught there when they're on and there's always bream and trevally around that area. I'm sure someone else will have some more specific info.

Fished point cartwright last weekend right on the end, perfect night as it was high tided as it got dark and hardly any wind, caugt a few good moses perch, plenty of small stuff, average sized singray, and we lost one big one snagged us up. Did have a try off the oher side at the weekend as well, got cahsed on SP's by some small trevally, and there were a couple of real big ones swimming about but i couldnt get a hook up. Definetly better on the point cartwrigh side though in my humble opinion, particularly after dark. Best of luck anyay.

on the info board at the kawana tackle world it says a 23kg yellow fin was landed of the rocks at cartys, i also heard of this before hand and im led to believe it was of the rocks a bit further round to the right from the spit wall!!

hmmmm sounds like a good spot, would anyone know if its better for high tide or low? cause ther might be certain flat rocks that might be submerged at hight tide, and i want to get the best posible position to fish.
