Yesterday after ten long years of daily nagging and whinging(from me) my darling wife has finally agreed to let me buy a boat. I will have about 15k to spend and Im looking for something in the 4.35-4.5m range. Any ideas you guys have on what to get or what to stay away from would be appreciated. I will be looking at either new or 2nd hand (as long as its good). Insideout if your reading this put your boat back on the market... Thanks for reading guys and Ill see you on the water SOOOON...CHEERS BRENDAN (the happiest man alive)

There must be something in the water that is even better than flouride. - I got one too ( a boat that is ). Congrats and see you out there.
mine went one better, she bought me one
I have a 4.2mtr bluefin mangrove jack, 40hp yammie 2 stroke, 55pound minnkota.
I got it new in 2003 and i'm very happy with it, great creek/river boat and get out to the bay islands safely in good weather, i have even had it 10-15km out off mooloolaba on a good day. You could get something set up like this and still have a few grand to spend on tackle.
Marty.
everyones getting boats execpt for me, soon though.
why werent you aloud to get one sooner?
hopw you find the right boat!

Seems you first have to find the right woman. Just don't let her decide when you can use it (the boat).
Any fishing is good fishing (should probably say Any fishing is...probably going to be illegal soon)
we're not all bad, us wives
We have a 4.55 polycraft front runner and love it. Great in the creeks, rivers, dams and The Bay. Good for outside too, you just have to pick your days. Only complaint we have is it can be a bit wet in chop. Shop around, make a list of features you are looking for and don't rush in to anything. Nothing worse than being unhappy with your new toy.
Good luck with the hunt!!
Cheers Kim.

hi brendan my advice is get onto all the boat websites you can like stacer , quintrex , horizon , stessel, etc etc and just look through them to see exactly what you want in a boat then you can either buy brand new or got a good idea of what a second hand one will be worth and what sort of lay out your after also get down to your local dealer and get into a few boats also bring the missus along cause if shes happy with the boat youll be happy garunteed P.S. worked for me . one big happy family ME THE WIFE and THE BOAT

MAybe you could teach me the secret whinging and whining method you used - but I guess I need to crawl back into my box and behave, i already have a boat, i just want an upgrade!! The wife has thrown out the anchor and parachute, there's no hope in heck ..... at the moment!
Good luck finding what you want, might help if you tell us what areas you plan to use it? Bay? Estuary? Blue water?

Could not agree with marty+jojo more I have a mangrove jack as well only had it for a couple of months but very happy with it certainly value for money
seajay boats are worth a look.
Make sure you get electric trim/tilt.
I'd also recommend a 4stroke or perhaps an etec.
Spend some time looking at boats before making the big decision.

Lido76 if your been nagging the lady for ten loooong years, means you know what type of fishing you like. Take the advice from others,go slow and check every boat and motor in your price range that will accomadate your style of fishing. My lady finaly said theres ten grand you can buy a boat, 2nd boat I saw I purchased, what a shit boat for the next 5 yrs I winged about my boat. Finaly given the ok to upgrade took 5mths before I decided on the signature, anyway enjoy lookin, and boating when time comes. Polky.
Congrats on the nagging and whining man. Its good to see it pays off (although females whining to men doesnt) Good luck on finding the right boat. Enjoy the new toy

What I want from my new boat is something to fish the rivers and the bay and something I can sneak offshore in but get back quick if the wind starts to pick upi.e 50-60hp. I am hearing all the advise you guys are giving me so please keep the ideas comming. Also if you see or here of any boats in the 4.2-4.5m range for sale just pm me....CHEERS BRENDAN.........
