looks like some freeky sex toy
Fished down at the Gold Coast over the weekend on the spit (surfside) and came across this strange object washed up on the beach.
At first i thought it was a floating toy etc but on closer inspection it had blood/slime on one end. It is made of a very light material - almost like a light bulb although i have never seen anything like in my life? It is nearly clear to look through?
Any ideas? My girlfriend thinks its some sort of jelly fish but not sure?
just one more cast........

Could be an egg, some sharks and rays have pretty weird looking eggs.
whatever it is - is totally sealed and there is nothing inside? it is also very light - i would imagine it would float out to sea?

It's my hemaroid pillow out of the yak.
that is weird i agree with bennykenny, lol good one flattie asssasin.cheers bdowy,,brett
It's the egg mass of a marine snail. If you hold it up to the light you will see it contains hundreds of tiny yellowish eggs embedded in the jelly. I would imagine that the jelly protects them during their early development and later breaks down releasing them into the water

I think it is some alien spawn waiting to hatch and find its nearest host .
hey mate
i live in tweed. ive seen heaps of them floating down the river and washed up on the banks and in the mangroves. always been curious to what they were. have been told that they are dolphin or shark shite but doubt it. so would be good to find out
cheers kiwi
Flattie assasin, turn it up mate, too much info
I have seen those things over the years in the surf too, thought they might be some sort of an egg, so good to finally know.. I actually told my son they were donuts for dolphins once

I have no marine expertise either but my kids pick up similar things on the foreshore sometimes - they call them jellyfish eggs (just like your girlfriend called it) - but the ones my kids pick up look like only one side of that double headed thing - so its either a double jelly fish egg - or else - I don't either. Good luck
always thought they were starfish eggs.
Muzz
i think its some sort of eggg sack for who knows what! probably snails as pointed out.
