A mate of mine has a tohatsu 30hp 2 banger and is looking to install a rectifier to the motor so he doesn't have to charge his battery all the time, i was wondering if anyone out there in Ausfish land has a wiring diagram for the motor, or if anyone has installed one before. any help is appriciated
Not sure of the wiring colours for Tohatsu but alternator wires are often yellow. Look for 2 wires comin from beneath the flywheel that go nowhere else.
The output from these wires is AC. Connect these to a $4.95 35Amp bridge rectifier from Dick Smith Electronics. These devices have 4 terminals: 2 ac inputs, ground and pos.
This will give a rectified DC output but won't be regulated (many charging systems aren't regulated).
