might get shot for saying.... but im sure its no big secret... try right up the end where it bottle necks into the open lake area near the weir! some good jacks up there along with some bullsharks at this time of year. get some good trevally up closer to the weir but i dont eat trev's (round eye) anyway. bucketloads of mullet up there too if your fishing with livies!

lizard wizard,
you are right in saying most people won't give up their spots to a stranger, but they are more likely to give you general tips and structure to fish. you didn't mention what species you were chasing though.
from your avatar I wil guess flathead are on your list? to target these look for back eddies, creek mouths, sand bank edges, weed bed edges, etc. they will be spread right thru the river at the moment. some places to try are the channel on the eastern side of sovereign island, and the drop offs in the northern arm of the river (the last straight before it empties into the broadwater)
if you have been following the posts on here lately, you will also note there are a few Jacks getting caught at the moment. these are generally only caught by people willing to put the extra time in, and who aren't afraid to lose some tackle. basically cast into the snaggiest, ugliest structure you can find and hang on. rock walls, rock bars, pontoons, and boats are all likely places to try. again they are spread through the entire length of the river - but don't expect to get too many during gentleman's hours!
bream are also structure based - rock walls and pontoons are good places to try for them. again spread thru the entire river.
if we get a lot of rain in the catchment area of the coomera, the top half will be dead for a few days. while there is dirty water flowing over the weir, forget about fishing the top half of the river - yesterday's rain was not enough to do this though.
hope this helps a little?

Re: coomera hot spots
thanks marty. yeh im just chasing the bread and butter fish bream , whiting, flathead but jacks would be another option since the time is right. i love chasing lizards but my real passion is big whiting. ive heard there are some real slappers in there somewhere but couldnt find em last trip. dont know if they been pushed out from the rain , or maybe i just need some more time on the river to crack it. its all part of the fun , exploring new places , finding new spots , and catching fish. sometimes getting a little tip cuts the process down and i thank you for yours marty. if your ever on the water and see a white quintrex broadwater with a tohatsu 40 on it thats me , come say g'day.

Marty is spot on for bream, lizards and most species. Thats good advice.
For whiting, you could try the sand flats at Paradise pt near Sov Is, the sand just sth of Runaway bay marina, or the bay between VMR and the seaway. I assume you know your baits- worms or yabbies. Ive not heard of up the river, most seem to be near the Broadwater.
cheers
