Herring
Just wondering if anyone could help me, most days herring will jump on to my jig but lately i've been having problems with them taking it and not been able to get any livies for my jack assualt any help would be much appreciated,

Use a cast net, best places ive found are around underwater structures

Are you having trouble hooking them...or there not biting?
If not biting, burley up a bit, and throw small pieces of bait on your jigs(bread/pillie/squid etc).
I prefer cast net for Herring+poddies though....

Herring have boney mouths so its pretty hard to set the hook

thanks for the replies, it's to deep for cast net so i'm stuck with jig, i berlied them up today and put squid on hte hooks, still no takers has this happen to anyone other than me, i seem to only be able to get them when the water is dirty (runout) but this is when i like to be upriver live baiting
