I do believe getting smoked is a learning thing. It tests your gear, knots and skill.give me a smoking any day.i will be better next time.

[ If you caught every fish you hooked, it would be boring.

you got it in one!! getting smoked by the monster you've been changing makes me dive to the bottom of the boat and tie on another lure. I've been home late heaps of times chasing the one that got away (or its bigger brother)

Ahh yess but you still have the stories

When the strength has gone from your arms, and a day in the boat is just a memory......you'll be able to keep those less fortunate entertained with stories of the monster that got away......... and you'll know.......... it was the truth

    cheers

Too true mate. Thank goodness for video cameras though, as some of the "smoking" tales would never be believed without one.

    This is my first "smoking"

What a buzz. Yes it's better than catching an ordinary fish.
Knoath, for me the whole point of goin fishing is for that reason... to land the big one, allthough its always better goin home with a esky for of fish.

I still have a shirt I wore fishing when I hooked onto a steam train headed for Tahiti. The cheap threadline reel I was using never stood a chance and the molten drag washer stains won't come out. I still wear that shirt with pride occasionally, but I can't remember if I caught anything esle that day

Getting smoked is what keeps you keen to go back next time and track him down.

It's deffinetly better than no action at all
