ok we have decided to take the camper trailer away at x-mas. this will be the first time using it! we are booked in t a caravan park on a large caravan powered site. just wondering how you guys setup the camper with the cement slab etc etc! i am just wondering how you possition the trailer to the slab? i have an annex also !
there is no problems with setting it up and down! have done it plenty of times! i built it! just wondering how to go about the concrete slab situation! weather people put the bedroom part on it or the annex!
Depending on how high the concrete slab is. If the concrete slab is alot higher then ground level (100mm or higher) you could run into dramas...If you put the trailer on the concrete slab the floor section may not reach all the way to the ground, making it hard to peg down. If the floor section is smaller (in area) then the slab you will not be able to peg it down at all as hammering a peg into concrete is impossible as you know.
If you put the trailer on the grass area, the floor section may not drop down enough and not pull the sides out tight. This will make the whole thing look baggy, and it will flap around a lot more in the wind. I think you will just have to make your mind up when you see the site.
But if the slab is level with the ground you wont have any of those dramas obvously. Most park operators have set ways in which things are setup...so they will probably have some good advice on setting it up.
If there is enough room putting the trailer and floor section on the grass beside the slab, then have the annex covering the slab would be the best way to go...but thats only if there is enough room to for drawbar.
I have seen people use the wind-down legs to lift the trailer, but this isnt a good idea as these legs are designed to stabilize the trailer, not hold its weight.
Best to have something to lay under the floor to protect it from the cement. I have seen them sideways and willtry that next time.
Cement sites are good as they are cleaner then dirt.
thanks guys! the park opperator said that we have the largest site that they have! so we should not get intio any trouble! we told them that we were concerned about how we would put it up! so they gave us the large site!
First Issue - Always put something under the floor of the campertrailer, if it rains then all you need to do is to clean the crappy cheap blue tarp rather than wait an Hour because the bottom of the campertrailer is wet and muddy. It also stops an damage to the floor and gives some insulation as well.
Every camping spot is site/spot is different.
But my general idea is have a dry and level place to sit and eat Ie where you spend the majority of the time ( but the trailer must also be level and dry as well).. So use the slab as your outdoor area if you can.
