    Quicksilver Fuel Filters

I have one of those Quicksilver Fuel Filter and water separators fitted to the fuel line and was wondering if there is any maintenance that would go along with this filter between replacements. Is it any advantage to remove the filter now and again and empty then re-fit or is it enough to replace every service without worrying about maintenance.

Looking at the unit it appears to be removed in the same fashion as an oil filter however it has been done up very tightly and there is no way it was going to budge without some leverage applied. Is there any trick with removing these and should they be done up just hand tight or is more tension than that required.

Attached photo is the model in question.

    Any tips welcome.

    Hi,

No point removing and emptying. It should be changed each year when you get the engine serviced.

To remove you will need an oil filter tool, about $8 from Supercheap. They tend to end up being very tight to remove.

    Cheers

Thanks BM, was looking at the unit yesterday and thought about removing however couldn't get it to budge using just hands.

Will leave it as is until service is due.

    Appreciate your quick comment.
