Hi Guys,
Can you still get pipis for bait on Straddy & Fraser etc. They seem to be getting scarce.

Won't be long and they won't be available.
Why is it that we wait until there are hardly any left of all sorts of species before we begin to try and protect them. Used to be able to collect eugaries in front of Teewah in their thousands but doesn't seem to be the case any more. Lets do the sums: 3000 - 4000 camps at xmas (which is spawning time for eugaries) in Cooloola with lets say an average of 4 people per camp which allows a bag limit of 200 eugaries per camp - taking into account those that don't fish and those that take more than they need - what chance have they got? And then what chance have the fish that rely on a healthy eugarie population such as whiting dart, bream and tarwhine?

3 to 4 thousand camps at x-mas i thought that was just an average weekend these days up there and you see them all down there collecting them by the bucket full. you can only use so many. i don't know how many times i have seen people dumping buckets of dead one's because they have left them out in the sun haven't changed the water or so on. i have noticed a rather steady decline in show whilst traveling along that stretch but then again it is hard to tell because it's almost a highway these days

Being a bait shop owner i cant get commercial quantities of pippis from any where in australia so i guess the answer to your question is sadly no.
