Hi guys
Have a friend who has just purchased a 2001 Prado 3.0 Turbo (automatic) and a 20 foot caravan. He plans to do the "give up work" thing and go on the road and wants advice on weather he should have a transmission cooler fitted - can anyone help?
Get him to have it done by someone who knows what they are doing as the auto is radiator cooled and shouldn't be completely disconnected from this system like some individuals do.
Disconnecting the transmission cooler from the radiator will have the bennifit of making the radiator more efficient. I am not sure if the Prado runs a lock up convertor as this will assist in less heat generation.
Driving style can also be changed to assist is less heat being generated.
yes i would for sure! i have one in my pajero that i have replaced with bigger then standard! i do a bit of towing and sand work! i also have motor oil cooler on also!
make sure you get the right type of cooler, I' learned there are coolers and there are coolers. I'd be wary of the garden variety autobarn type - ran one of them on my patrol and it cost me a transmission. Just didn't do the job at all
