Cool diff locks factory toyota or not?

hi all seriously thinking of ordering 70 series ute. Would wait for 2008 plate which means i can pay about $2700 and get one with factory difflocks. I just don't like a 4X4 which is really a 4X2 when opposite corner wheels are in the air (or on wet grass). The obvious alternative is air lockers added later.
Would be interested to hear if getting factory ones is a good idea or not.
I don't go looking for trouble and would expect to use them only a few times on any trip...thanks john

you answered the question with your last statement. just go for factory ones. if you ever comes across the "wet grass single spinner" you can always apply the handbrake lightly and that will make both of em grip

I would be checking to see if the factory lockker is a true locker or just a fancy brake program working through a ABS style system that limits wheel slip by applying the brake to the spinning wheel. (not a true locker)
Air lockers are a sure fire way to know what you are engaging and have the bennifit of a compressor under the hood to inflate the tyres.

The Toyota factory locker is definately a true locker.

70 Series Cruisers dont come with ABS

I reckon that if you are going to spend the dollars on a new 4X4, then to get the factory ones will always be the best option, I guess there may be better brands out there, but the car is then still "factory fresh" if you know what I mean, and any Warranty issues that MAY arise is totally back on Toyota and cannot in any way be blamed on an aftermarket device!

Go factory... air lockers are shit. Buy TJM's equivilant if you do decide to go down that path.

Have tried the hand brake bit when the opposite rear wheels spin, no luck tho
