Live prawns

Hi AUS FISH extremists,

Just wondering how and where in rivers do you get your live prawns. I throw the cast net and get mullet and herring all the time and only got prawns a few times (by catch).

well mate i dont know much about prawns in the river, cause i dont target them in there, but off shorncliff pier you get loads of em, if your there at the right time,

There are deeper holes in the rivers and creeks that hold the prawns. You can pick them up on a sounder or they are often found where the creek turns a sharp corner. You'll often pick up prawns in these holes when you don't get any in other locations

Agrree with Freeeedom. Low tide in shallow flat creeks is the time. Gets them out of the mangroves and weed banks.
