Thread: Fishing Monduran with Eric

    Fishing Monduran with Eric

After my recent trip to Monduran Dam with Ben, I was not keen to go again, until I saw the efforts of Eric Grell.

I have a reasonable collection of Egrell rods including some very special trolling game rods, so I thought that I was sort of “entitled” to give him a call. Eric was very excited to learn that I was interested in catching Barramundi and actually invited me to fish with him at Monduran Dam.

Who could resist an invitation like that? I won’t say too much more, but it was by far the most exciting Barra trip I have ever done. I learned so much in such a short time and also realized that Eric is much more than an outstanding rod builder. He has a tremendous amount of experience to offer and it is now obvious to me why his rods are so good. Eric personally tests every rod to the point of nearly breaking them. I was absolutely amazed to see how much power these rods have.

I would just like to thank Eric for giving me all the guidance needed to help me catch my record at 112cms .

You guys did exceptionally well, especially to find that ‘honeypot’. I’m not sure about your 112 on a lime gulp That’s just rubbing salt in the wounds – especially when our (Ben’s) boat donut’d
See if we can turn the tables on the 15th – you won’t have Eric to guide you this time

    Dearest Navi (BlackSheep),

I regret to have to inform you that the guidance is only part of the secret. I now have the knowledge and skill to kick your bum on the 15th, 16th or any time you like.

I will put up a post if I get the best fish otherwise I am sure the others will.

    Wilco,

We used the gold B52s for most of the time but I did use a 7inch Nuclear Chicken on a very large worm hook - Unweighted and caught two great fish.

I am excited at the thought of going again and using the unweighted plastics because there is a much better feel and minimal chance of the Barra spitting the hooks.

Well Frank what can I say....you've done it again. You have knocked over some quality fish with the NCs.........you only need a billy on them now and you'll have Berkley sponsorship for life

When many anglers are finding new ways of losing trophy fish, you seem to find new ways of catching them.

Good luck with the challenge on the 15th...not sure if I can make it yet but will do my best.

You sure looked to be having a good old time when we caught up with you on Saturday. Still singing that song eh....I note some of the lyrics changed with mixed company

    Cheers
    Paul
