hey mate i would recon they would grow bigger in fresh, especially in impoundments, as they have alot of food in the dams, and they can grow really quick.

It should not matter.
Bass travel to the salt to spawn, but would rarely live there (if ever) full time.
Based on actual bass i have seen, impoundment bass seem to be a lot bigger. Take Somerset and North Pine with Specimens at 55cm being common (as common as 55cm bass can be).
My guess would be this is related to their food sources. Bony Bream and Gar and Somerset and NP respectively. Their is an abundance of these bait fish so i dont think the bass would have a problem getting their 3 square meals a day
It could also be due to the fact that the fish may, like yellowbelly, create the eggs in their body, but as they are unable to spawn absorb them back into their bodies as fat. Just a thought.

Quote from Native Fish Australia Webpagethey do venture out into the big blue but they don't stay there to grow big.In the 1990s, fisheries research vessels captured a number of Australian bass at sea, several kilometres off shore
