G Day all, Headed up to bribie on the weekend super keen to catch first fish on plastics. Loaded with new spin rod and a heap of new plastics, we headed for the bridge for a flick around. I was using a 3" squidjy fish and the missus a 3" pink lemonade jerk shad. First drift i thought all my luck had changed, i got smashed by something and it was heading for cover at a rate of knots, then SNAP, iwas spewing. But now fuelled with enthusiam to hook up again. A few drifts later i thought i had hooked plug until it started fight a little I was on again to what i thought felt like a nice cod. After a few nervous minutes i pulled up a b*#%*dy big stonefish, what a dissapointment!!. After that nothing else for an hour or so, so pulled the pin and went home. So after all i did catch first fish on sp's, but wont be happy until its keeper. BRING IT ON, Im not giving in.

Congrats....I think!!
Thorbsy,
Stick with it! You're not the only one struggling to get a keeper on SP's.
Congrats thorbsy. Lapras, try working your plastic slower on the retrieve. It will all come together.
hahah it's alright...my first was a pike and he managed to bite my new soft plastic in half (even though u get more the one in a bag)
Every time your throwing plastics and landing fish your learning and the more you do it ,all of a sudden it just clicks. I'm really concentrating on bream at the moment and on a big learning curve. Keep going and best of luck
At least it's an interesting first fish on plastics for you. Scary, but interesting.
Keep at it, and don't take no for an answer.
Your better then me mate.
I've never had a hit on the new fangled gismos
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good
Congrats mate at least you can take that of your list or add to it ,you will be surprised what you will get if you persist i know it still freaks me out the variety you catch on those dam things me and my wife have now caught a heap of different fish thats why we are hooked .Some days you can cast for hours then all of a sudden it goes of but if i can suggest one thing ,slowly slowly with the retrieve as flattie said .Keep persisting you will love it when you have a good day you wont go back....matt
A bad days fishing has got to be better than any day at work......
stcik with it mate, after a cpl of fish u will wonder what the worry wa s
as long as its not from ur own fishtank its all good
While you're up Bribie way, try the plastics at low tide between some of the sandbanks north of Donybrooke, can't really miss out on a few flatties this time of the year.
Good luck
Mike
