RESCUERS have found three people missing since Saturday on a remote island off Gladstone, after they wrote "HELP" in the sand.
A Dornier search aircraft found the Haines Signature 735 boat on Erskine Island, northeast of Gladstone, about 6.30am today while searching nearby islands.
The trio are safe and well and are currently being removed from the island by water police before being transported to Heron Island.
The man, 34, and two women, ages 24 and 22, had left Heron Island about 1.45pm Saturday to an area behind Wistari Reef, near Heron Island, to water-ski and were expected to return before sunset Saturday.
Police were alerted they were missing about 7.30pm Saturday.
Water police, a rescue helicopter and island personnel had been searching for the trio and their boat, while the Australian Search and Rescue Authority (AusSAR) co-ordinated the deployment of a Dornier search aircraft from Cairns.
A broadcast was also issued to all shipping traffic in the area.
The trio had written a large 'HELP' in the sand on the island, police said.

Help on the sand was spotted ! Don't know any detail so if any one knows something let us all know ... like did his boat sink ?
Hmmm- stuck with a 24 yo and a 22yo on a deserted island. Are we sure he even wanted to be found???
Cheers Scott.
I would say he probably had to ask for after 2 days of it especially with all that chaffing from the sand... ouch Need to wash that sand out of those sensitive wee places
If he didn't make good use of his time - he should have his head checked mesa reckon
