Hi mate i fish soft plastics for nearly everything. When in the bay i mostly fish around mud using no heavier than a 1/6 jig head with 3/0 hook i use mostly 4inch power baits and gulps. The gulps are good when things are slow. Fish them very slow with very small movement. As for flathead they will eat just about anything.
Hi Nosy,
Do a search on it m8, there's lots of info. But IMHO A general mix you can't go wrong with are
Good luck.
- Snapper - 3 or 4 " Burkley Gulp minnow in either Nuke chook or Lime Tiger
- Sweetlip - Gulp Watermellon 3" Grub or Atomic Prong in pumkinseed/ red fleck
- Flathead - all of the above
- Whiting - I am just about to try a new one the gulp 2" natural sandworm called the Sandworm Nereis. But I am a novice on whiting because they have not been a target on plastics, just occasional bycatch.
Scalem
hey mate you cannot go past the 3" fry in nuc chik for snapps and 4" pearl watermelon powerbaits jeark shads.
5 " pink neon jerkshad in gulp for flatties
regards jason
Folks
Thanks to everyone for replying to my plea,I hope to test all the newgear when i go on holidays this friday
Cheers Nosy
Scalem hit the plastic on the head, same as he said but try the 4"turtle backs they get hit by all sorts mayby even whiting. The other thing is dawn or dusk you won,t catch much in the day unless you burly a whole cow. Once you start you will get hooked.
nosy, nosy, nosy.......dont listen to ddobson...........as fishing goes he makes a good builder........LOL
Just having a go dave....................... they would know, cause i certainly dont know plastics and frankly dont want to know, give me stinky bait anytime

Everyone has a theory on SP's - what works, what doesn't, when, how etc... Just try different things at different times and you'll be pleasantly surprised! Some said they don't work at night but my biggest fishes have come at night on SP's. I would also try the larger SP's ie 5" & 7" if you want the bigger fish... As they say, 'big baits catch big fish'!
Be sure to report back...
Take Care T
i'd start out with, the three inch minnow gulp in pumpkinseed. they are tried and proven. once youve landed ya first fish, its game on from there.!!!!!!!!!
for flathead now, i only fish with 5 inch minnows. they are also a great sp for inshore reef species.
its all trial and error from there on in mate.
enjoy
