Cant reply to a Private Message

Tried to reply to a private Message but received error message that in box was full. Does the sender of th PM get a pop up to tell him to clear his in box or do you have to wait weeks or even months for him to notice that the in box is full?

Inbox is the members responsibility.

The system will send them an E-mal though to let them know someone has tried to send them a PM.
