Thread: Trailer roller set up

    Trailer roller set up

Just looking for some ideas on setting up rollers on my trailer. It supports a 11 foot tinny which is rather light and at the moment it has 3 rubber keel rollers and 2, foot long skids each side. The problem is when I load it on the thing never sits central and I have to shift it. I have seen the centering rollers which will help but I was looking for a set up that would make it easier to load in strong current and cross wind.
What set up woud positivly locate the thing central on the trailer when loading ?

You can't go wrong with that setup.
I use sliders a bit longer then that and have a set at the back and a set just in front of them.
The tinny is probably going on crooked because the sliders aren't adjusted right.
You'll find one side is closer towards the centre rollers then the other.

Mine are placed so the grooves in the alloy help centre the boat as it comes on the trailer.

    Cheers then

It all seems to be adjusted right but where the skids are attached to the trailer they don't corrospond to the lines in the hull. A centering roller will help with locating it once it is on. Is there some thing I can add either side of the centre roller to aid in recovery in poor conditions?

One of the sliders may also be higher then the other to cause the crooked loading.
Can the sliders be adjusted to correspond to lines in the hull??
On mine I have the rear sliders sticking out the back of the boat by about 8 inches (or 200mm) to make recovery a smidgion easier.
I also find keeping tension on the launch rope whilst loading makes things easier by keeping the boat pretty well on the centre roller at the start of loading.
