Any other points of difference you wish to argue? I have all night!

Ah stuff it.... the other argument the other guys are having is way more interesting... Derek - you win! You are soooo smart!! I bow to your complete power and advanced knowledge on all subjects, particularly academic articles and political history. Your advanced knowledge, compassion, insight and forethought simply amazes me and I dont know why you havent been swept up by the general public and made king! Nay a king is too lowly for the likes of you...I say thou art a God!!
A summary completed by someone else not Hunt.

The report by Colin Hunt is 21 pages long and yes I assume that you like a lot of other people who sprout it out have never read it.

Want to know where his figures came from that showed the alleged decline in fishing on the GBRMP ~ The Queensland Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries. He didnt even collect his own data, all he did was analyse what the Beattie Government fed him. Good one Peter Beattie, you certainly got a lot of millions out of the Feds for Queensland with that one, not that I begrudge people getting it.

By the way, Hunt also predicted an increase in numbers that had been declining before the rezoning.

Will be interesting to see further research in a year or two.

Now for my other question. Where are all these National Parks on the land that people no longer have access to.

    Re: ALP fishing policy

I don't know why anyone here is even bothering to debate the GREENS on their extreme environmental policies as they are just so much bunkum designed to suck in the guilty city dweller wanting to do something for the environment.
These policies after all is said and done are no more than a disguise to use at election times and to hide their real social agenda, just go to their site and have a real good look at their policies.
Jim have you really had a look at what you are supporting or are you one of the genuine conservationists who think they may be able to do some good in there?
It's a bit like joining PETA and thinking you will get them to endorse catch and release.
Have a look at the resume here bloke http://parliament.nsw.gov.au/prod/pa...256BE2002535A5
A vegan and animal libber does not a conservationist make in fact the opposite is true conservationists preseve the species while animal rights preserves the individual.
Bob Brown and Peter Singer (founder of Animal libbers Aust) set up Tasmanian Greens, as before there are some genuine conservationists but too many others with other agendas.
When the stumps were being pulled out of the Murray here where were/are the Greens?
One of our members reported thousands of Red Gums clear felled without permits to the local Green candidate and she said "not much I can do about it" "but keep me informed"?
When she found out he was a hunter/fisherman he said "she wanted to punch my lights out"???
They don't have a conservation policy they have a Greenwash policy.

Dr Mapstone and Dr Ayling did extensive studies on the GBR. They observered that Coral Trout no's were increasing before the green zones were expanded to 33%. Also that expanding green zones would lead to increased fishing pressure and poorer fishing.

    Hey Adamy,

What are you on about bloke? Why drag the TFP candidate into this thread and your junk! Why stir it up??? Isn't it time to heal the rift and be united??? Seems Ronald McDonald isn't the only person with a big nose...

    Cheers

    Derek

The data about the decline in fishing came from the Qld DPI&F Survey of Recreational fishing participation rates. I think I have it on file if you send me an email (g.fooks @ uq.net.au) or if you are particular you will find it on the DP!@F web site.

Form memory the 40% fall was in teh Cairns region, less in Townsville ( or vica versa)

    Re: ALP fishing policy

Thanks Gary but I have the reports including a copy of the original Colin Hunt report.

Perhaps you and I are the only people to have read them

The data is taken from boat ramp surveys, telephone surveys and EPA Diaries however I wonder just how accurate it is since a lot of anglers have refused to co-operate with and provide Govt agencies with accurate information since the RAP.

    Interesting all the same.
