Bout the only thing that might really make the reef 'disappear' will be sea level rise and ocean acidification coutesy of Greenhouse and climate change- things the major parties have helped drive through their committment to turning Australia into China's coal quarry and avoiding committments to Kyoto and alternative energy!!

With all your emotive clap trap FNQ your just as bad as any of the more radical greenies I've come across in terms of doining a disservice to the truth.

here we go again..the greenies catchcry..Greenhouse and climate change...all a load of crap as far as I am concerned until someone can answer the one question I have been asking for ages..even sent an email to CSIRO asking this question..no answer from them.

Geeze Jim..why the hell should we sign Kyoto when 2 of the so called biggest polluters (China and India) are exempt from it...I am glad we have not signed it.

Wanna tewll me one form of "alternative" energy that is reliable and safe for the normal household and economical..now before you answer I will help you..with wind and solar you need to store the power in batteries...can see every house will need an explosion proof battery room and still some dopes will manage to blow themselves up with them...next suggestion????

I am pleased for you Jim that you consider yourself a bit red..might I suggest a relocation for you..just a little up the road...China or North Korea..now those guys just love being red..you may like it. You do not like private greed..does that mean that I should continue working my 70 hours a week but support someone that does not want to work because it is the war mand fuzzy socialist thing to do?

    George

A little background on MR Rudd, George..he and Wayne Swan were the principle advisers to Wayne Goss when he was trying to win a state election. The Nationals had most of the Gold Coast and hinterland seats..they had proposed to build a dam in the headwaters of the Albert River..Wolffdene Dam. They were also going to interconnect. Hinze and Wolffdene to Wivenhoe to make a South East corner water grid.
Rudd and Swan advised Goss to promise to can the dam if he won the election..well, lo and behold the NIMBY people voted out the nationals in those electorates and Goss won and as he promised he canned the dam.
Now we have level 6 water restrictions...no need for them if Wolffdene had been built as it would be as full as Hinze Dam.

Derek I have to respect your shit stirring for shit stirring sake but on this one you are so far out of the ballpark its not funny. You asked where the figures came from - this is where they came from Hunt is not just "some Bloke" go do your research before dismissing stuff out of hand. Hunt was commissioned by the QLD Govt to do the report. It based on economics and good research. You have to actually read it before you can debunk it.

Did you take the time to read the report? Did you take the time to note the research?

Then dont cast aspersions before you do your homework.

Remember - you asked where the figures came from - this is where. What do you mean I didnt answer your questions? Is your head so far up your own proverbial? - are you that much absorbed into stirring your own crap that you dont realise when you are getting the answers you seek?

HUNTS REPORT IS THE SOLE REFERENCE FOR THESE FIGURES - everyone that quotes 40-42% references Hunt, if you took some time to do some real research you would know and accept this.

Geez Derek... you fancy yourself as a reasonably intelligent individual, I'm having my doubts!

    Well said Pinhead.

A vote for the greens is worth two knobs of goat turd.

People want proof of things. Show me how the CO2 output mankind is making is causing global warming! Proof please? The worlds tempreture has fluctuated for millions of years. Why is this fluctuation related to mankind? And remember, I want proof.

I actually gained respect for Howard when he didn't jump on the Kyoto bandwagon.

    Re: ALP fishing policy

Respect for Howard when he didn't sign up for Kyoto? Me too. Will Rudd sign it if he is elected? Only if he is stupid. The result would be that Labor would spend the next fifty years trying unsuccessfully to get elected. The cost to Australia i.e., you and me would be too great. And for what? Some theory that we are undergoing a change in climate which is a total and direct result of human activity.

That theory ignores all other possible causes and totally ignores long term cycles. It also ignores the fact that the solar system as a whole is undergoing change and that 'warming' commenced with the outer planets and has steadily worked its way in towards us.

What is going on? I don't know but suspect that if that shaved head ex rock star has anything to do with the 'solution' we will be paying lots of dollars. Rudd lost me the moment he appointed him.

I agree, it was sound rational thinking, although I believe on virtually every other issue area he and his party would have given the Nazi party a real run for the hearts and minds of the pre war German people, a coalition possibly??

    cheers fnq

I'm just glad that man is one of the main underlying causes of global warming. I was worried how all of the scientists that predicted the Y2K disaster were going to earn a living.

Derek... you are proving to everyone that you are an absolute nincompoop!! No offense intended

I never said it was the hunt report - I said it was a 3 page summary.

Any other points of difference you wish to argue? I have all night!

    Adam

Ah stuff it.... the other argument the other guys are having is way more interesting... Derek - you win! You are soooo smart!! I bow to your complete power and advanced knowledge on all subjects, particularly academic articles and political history. Your advanced knowledge, compassion, insight and forethought simply amazes me and I dont know why you havent been swept up by the general public and made king! Nay a king is too lowly for the likes of you...I say thou art a God!!
