Re: Fishing line brands
I seem to think in the bottom end of the market, there is problay not much difference........ common or garden mono is common or garden mono..... may be some slight variation.
when you start paying good money there seems to be a lot of variation and as many opinions as there are products.
I think a lot of it comes down to specific products being designed to have a specific advantage in a specific situation.
take for instance schniede clear line........ it is claimed to be very abrasion resistant..... & it seems hard to the to the touch so thats problay a fair thing...... but it is thick compared to other lines and my be stiffer...........so for someone fishing arround rocks its problay a good choice.......... but for others maybe not.
do you go braid or mono
does colour matter
what sort of reel are you using
and it goes on.
some have said they realy like xxxx brand....... another will say no it gave me problems with their type of reel.
One thing I notice about the whole fishing thing...... is there do not seem to be tooo many critical product reviews in the fishing press and I have yet to see a single head to head comparison of any product in the commercial fishing press, like would be common in automotive, computing or many other similar media.
cheers

I'm pretty happy with the Platypus Platinum or when I can get it, the Platypus Super 100.

You'll get a lot of different answers on this one...personal choice. I hunted around and tried a few and finally settled on
Spin gear 4, 6 and 10lb Fireline.
Baitcaster Fins PRT 10 and 20lb.
The braids really nice to use. If you do get a birdsnest it's fairly easy to get out.
When the Fireline eventually gets a bit tired I'll put braid on my spin gear as well. I've been happy with the Fireline, but I'm REALLY happy the braid.
