mate if youre looking for live bait like herring mullet biddys ( LEGAL) whiting
just try around the baot ramp pontoon at the sundale bridge. only need a cast net.

also look around the shallow sandbanks adn marinas or pontoons it also pays to take your net in the bvoat with u and have it handy as u never know when a school of gar or herrin or mullrt will swim past

I had someone give me $hit once(few years back) for having Winter Whiting (which have no leagl size and as far as I know can be used as bait. The boat they were from was called Pilgrim. So up ya bum Pilgrim fools! I don't make any apologies for that comment as there was 2 of them to my 1(me) and they were quite aggressive) $ankers.

I was planning on finding their boat and drilling a hole in it and sinking it hehehe

I have always done my best to do the right thing. I have even reported people in the past for keeping under size fish and have seen fisheries show up and fine them. Sorry to hijack the thread. :-)

Do you want offshore marks for the jigging baitgrounds, or something you can throw a cast net over? Be more specific and we can help.

whiting are an easy species to get confused with. It seems winter whiting (trumpeter, diving) are not the same as summer whiting (sand) min 23cm, youd need to be careful in what you keep.

I think JRJR was referring to Winter whiting, if I read his post correctly & I was of the impression there was no size limit, but the pdf from the DPI site is not clear,
It says "Whiting (Golden lined or sand) 23cm Min, no bag limit - so is a Golden lined whiting the same as a wintery ?

    Thanks

NO a winter whiting is different to a summer whiting

there is no size or bag limit on winter whiting

winter whiting normally have dark blotches on their body and are caught in high numbers.
