412kg Black Marlin - Hervey Bay

Front page of todays Fraser Coast Chronicle a 412kg Black Marlin caught just off Hervey Bay, it took the lucky bugger 3 hours to bring it in. Unfortunately the Marlin died before they could tag it & release it. What a catch but, & off Hervey Bay was what shocked me most. I am not sure if someone has posted pics of it yet but I have attached a photo just in case.

definatly a top fish, but that paper should be warned of the feedback they will get for that photo. The Giant Black marlin caught off townsville a few weeks back attracted all the green criticism you could think of, most of which was coming from the university students, living on my tax dollars.

The Tasman Venture was the mothership for the Hervey Bay Game fishing comp on last weekend. The fish was caught by a 40' blackwatch called MOJO and was weighed ( roughly) using the gantry on the Tasman Venture. It was 40 kg short of the magical 1000lb mark which would have seen Mojo recieve a $10 000.oo prize from the H.B.G.F.C for the first grander weighed in there area. As for it dying during the fight , well i think that was said to ease the fallout.

He's my report from the comp

That's a bit rough scott!!! I'm a uni student (well, was up until a couple of weeks ago) living of tax dollars

Know what you mean about the backlash tho. Was a bit of a joke what went on in townsville. Not just the backlash but the personal threats that they were reporting. Nothing better to do than bitch about someone elses catch........
