KH 15 (my son Kyle) & I decided on an early morning plastics session at Peel. Conditions were OK on the western side though the odd shower kept us a bit damp.
We drifted the reef edge on the outgoing tide and KH 15 manage a 35cm squire on a nuc chook within the first 10 minutes. My Atomic prong managed a grinner and my change to a pumkinseed gulp minnow resulted in a spiny toadie!
As the tide slowed we trolled some hardbodies around SW rocks to Horseshoe Bay hoping for a stray doggie mac and though we had heaps of small hits we only picked up a few grinners.
The weather started to turn nasty so we sheltered in the bay and tried a few drifts. First drift resulted in a triple hook-up. A small squire on the nuc chook for KH 15, a larger squire on an Atomic prong for me and a 1m black-tip shark on a watermelon gulp minnow!
All hell broke loose as we landed all three fish and the bloody shark managed to chew a hole in my landing net!![]()
Another quiet troll on the way home with no result and that was it for the morning.
No pics as the fish weren't worth it!![]()
