    Re: Moving to Melbourne

Most marlin action is in Queensland. Someone will correct me if i am wrong. Check out this thread elsewhere Gravity. A nice marlin caught in hervey bay, just 3 hours north of brisbane, caught the other day

PS: You will love melbourne. But Brisbane/Hervey Bay is the hub of fishing in australia

    Re: Moving to Melbourne

That's why we mostly live in Queensland Gravity!

You're gonna have to get used to the warped aussie sence of humour and the friendly rivalry between all the Australian states mate

    Cheers

    Re: Moving to Melbourne

Hey Gravity, Melbourne would have to be Australia's cultural capital.

Yes, I would agree that the music scene there would have to be the best in Oz.

And the roads system....... If you drive - and like to keep moving, don't move to Brisbane or the Gold coast.

The reason for all of this culture is the crappy weather for 6 Months of the year.
You have to find something to do indoors.

Again I must remind you gentlemen that I comes from the land of -40 degree winters. I'll be walking around in shorts and sandals and you will just be laughing at me

and I understand the friendly rivalry believe me, its the same here, east coast vs. West coast anyways.

Nice Marlin, I would love to catch one of those someday!

    Hi Gravity

And Welcome, when you get here.

Don't pay too much attention to these Queenslanders mate, they tend to get a bit tropo

The best State is NSW, after all it was the Original and Queensland used to be part of it, so was Victoria for that, so they are all defacto NSWelsh, ha they'll love that

Melbourne is the Music Capital of Aus, you shouldn't have to much trouble getting a start, although you may have to registar with a Manager of some type, and yeh the women do love it for shopping.

The Australian Alps, around 4 hrs North of Melbourne are some of our best Trout Fisheries, maybe even the Best. But we don't have the Inland waterway's that you would be used to.

Someone mentioned Australian Salmon, nothing like your Atlantic fellas, our's are only good for fish cakes and rissols, but still good fun on the line.

Our Fly gear can be very cheap and nasty,(under $100) or you can pay top dollar for top shelf, it's not as big here as it is in Canada, but it is growing.

Anyway I've bagged the Queenslanders/Victorians, which is a great sport, so I'll say seeya

    Re: Moving to Melbourne

hey gravity, there's definitely an 'upside' to the shopping down there
I think there are more women-to-men ratio in Victoria than any other state?
problem is, being so cold not much comes off, so you have to use your imagination!!!!

ahem.... anyway, you picked a great country to move to
seriously, come to Qld and try a few charters and get out if you are at all interested. and come to the Gold Coast during summer

gee - lucky my wife doesn't read these posts of mine

hehe - this thread could degenerate into an all out war!
the only thing wrong with NSW is Sydney IMO.... like a poor man's melbourne

2 and a bit hours to bris vegas mate by plane.

Good charters from Brisbane Sunny Coast or Gold Coast, but in ym opinion sunny coast to fraser island is best.

But mate don't feel bad about moving to Melbourne. I hear they may even be getting television down there early next year.

mate - you would not drive as it takes approx 24hrs of straight driving to do the trip!

there are many threads in the 'General Fishing' chat room which talk about charters operating out of Qld. When you decide to come up this way, I recommend opening up a discusion on where you are going and what you would like to do, then the guys can give you some good advice.

by the way - Victoria and Qld are united in their dislike for NSW. Melbourne is a great place to visit - I enjoy going there. Food is awesome. Just a lot of self important Latte sippers down there that we 'down to earth' Qlders don't identify with!! hehe - its all in good jest though...

    Re: Moving to Melbourne

I always up for flying to go on a charter anyways, as long as I can bring beer and have someone to drink it with.

I don't drink Latte's anyways, just spiced rum
