After a busy semester at uni I am heading home to do some fishing. Does anybody know of some half decent fishing spots around Mackay that you don't need a boat to get to. I will be using live baits so I will need to catch them at the spot.
I notice a lot of people fishing near the forgan smith and hospital bridges. Are they any good?
haven't done allot of fishing in Mackay but caught a really nice feed of whiting at Slade point over the sand banks on the run out.
Also got busted off a few times fishing the rock wall at the Mackay Harbour but haven't landed anything of interest there yet.

Have at shot at the harbour wall. Generally dont use bait but I presume you could get it out there. If chasing jacks you could try the rocks at dumbleton down from the weir. People I have been talking to have been geting the jacks on mullet strips, it also takes out the barra factor to a fair extent whilst the season is closed. Another place to try is off the rockwall down past the pioneer boat ramp off the sandfly walk path. If you have a look fishingline.com.au it should give you a bit of info as well.
