    monduran before the rain

spent the week at monduran and caught a few big barra in the basin casting and trolling before the rain and dropping water temp slowed things down considerably.classic barras, vipers and arafuras did well with gold the best performing colour until the rain set in then flouro did ok.we landed over a dozen fish and dropped the same lost three lures to fish and found one of them the next day.the last day cleared and we headed up the b arm to hook and drop one barra.we also chased bass for no result but our mates landed three over 50cm in another area. the biggest went 120 and the average was 106 to 109 only two were under a meter

Nice fish, you are making us all at home jealous.

A few more will be planning trip up there now.

Hope that the rain puts a few more metres in the dam.

Some of the stumps are pretty dangerous, fast boats and a bit of damage, I reckon might be the result.

    Regards

that fish is a barrel, awesome. Killitfillit, were you trolling down the middle of the basin in the deeper water or stickinig to the edges?
We saw a heap of fish come from the weed banks by trollers last week end.

    cheers

    Re: monduran before the rain

how deep are the lures you run in the basin? I can't get my head around the basin trolling. the 2 times i was there i didn't see anyone trolling the middle of the basin and most that did troll in there were sticking to the edges and getting catties. I can see it works tho' and will have to give it a go. is it something to try in the hotter months? my other trips were in october or march....perhaps not warm enough for it.

vipers at around 10ft are good out in the open water but depth changes from day to day you just have to try some different depth lures until one gets woofed
