Which one is best for my cranking battery// Can you leave the leads connected or is better to disconnect whilst charging , All replies appreciated. P.S. battery only 1 year old & flat as..
almost any charger will charge a "normal" car battery, but you are better off to go to a good auto shop or tool outlet for a quality unit, there is a few different types around, like you can get them that you leave connected up and it will not overcharge the battery (like used in alarms and stuff), or you can get a "heavy" charge type that will revive a battery enough to at least start a Car/Boat in quite short time, I guess over all a good quality charger that will charge a battery over night will be OK, some people have a very low "trickle" type charger that is connected when ever the Boat is not in use, but thsi of course requires the power leads to be out of the Weather some how, or the Boat stored in a garage, and it is best to disconnect the leads to charge the Battery, but not always necessary if you have isolator switches and so on.
Try a C-TEK charger. Only small in size, but a very good charger with settings for different size batteries & will automatically cut down to a small trickle charge when battery is charged. $100-$125 will get you one.
