    DVD copy and burn ?

I have a dvd that I want to copy. How do I do this. ??

It is probably very simple and more than likely stareing me in the eye as I look bewildered at the screen.

I run XP and windows Media Player if that's any help.

A simple.... english..... assist will be appreciated.

Phil, the holy grail question particularly with quality, depends on what sort of Dvd you want to burn, if its a commercial movie then you need the right software.

All doable depending on the type of dvd/encrytion. Let me know and ill pm you the details/steps as ill have to ask the techies at work, there are many different ways with results etc.

You wouldn't be doing anything illegal Phill?

If you are serious about it you can buy some software that ties in with Windows Media centre. "Slysoft" CloneDVD and AnyDVD. But for free Tailortaker has it

As Tailortaker mentioned use DVD shrink & Nero... but I would also add to get and install anydvd as well.

Anydvd removes the encryption of any disc put in. Good for the DVD's that use the new sony encryption as DVD shrink not having been updated for several years won't be able to bypass the new encryption, but is still a reliable program to shrink the DVD to 4.7gig.

Re: DVD copy and burn ?

    Thanks guys.

I have Nero, Video Impressions and AVID.

I just thought that using windows I could highlight the video ( dvd ) in the drive, click copy or rip or something and it would copy it to my harddrive, then I could put in a blank disc and click copy...... ! apparently not that simple.

No, it is not illegal just wanted an extra copy of a some dvd's I have.

I don't want to edit it, but that would be handy as there is 50% of each dvd that is crap.

Mate, you have to have a DVD burner first...just pulling ya leg...
Just visit someone who can do it and have a sticky beak to start with.
We use CloneDVD2. Seems to work well and we get updates all the time for those uncrackable codes
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good

Re: DVD copy and burn ?

you need a dvd burner, nero and then select dvd copy from the wizard in nero. if no copy protection than easy peasy. If you dont have a burner, get one, they cost under $40 at umart.

Need any further info PM me.

edit: if it has encryption or protection then I use.

dvd decryptor to rip> encode using dvdshrink > burn in nero

Yes i use dvd shrink. But an older version that I have less problems with. I also use nero, and there is a great program called dvd santa, that will turn vcd's etc in to full DVD encrypted movies.
