ummmmm,, mr shimano,,,i have a complaint

with the recent and prior post's regarding the accuracy of brag mat's,,, i have another more relevant (in my opinion) complaint,,,,

with the reno job that i'm doing on my tinnie,,, i paid good $$ for a couple of rod holders to be mounted on the rear bar to keep the rods outta the way whilst fishing,,,

spent a couple of hours on the boat this morning after a trip (landbased) down the creek to get it ready for the m&g,,,,, and went to set the rods in place,,,,,,,,,,, buggers don't fit

i tried the rods in the holders on the front of the 4b,,,,,same problem

the ""neck"" of the reel is to fat to slip into the groove of the holder,,,,,,

my complaint is warranted,,,, the old reels,,,,,,, no drama,,,,, the new aernos reels have a flare on the seat foot that expands past the width of the groove opening

after the recent episode at choppa's home,,, where 90% of my rods/reels went walkabout,,, i spent a fair amount of $$ replacing the stolen gear,,,,,, now i have to spend AGAIN,,,,, replacing rod holders

my whinge is over,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but this must effect a lot more than me

    choppa

    i still love ya tho'
    can it get any better??????????????,,,,,,,,,,,,,,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgG_TxEPaQE

i've receiced 4 pm's,,, and 2 phone calls with much the same complaint issue since posting,,,,,, and what's scary,,,,

a new 2.5kg anchor,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, yep you guessed it

    choppa

    i'm over it now,,,,,,,,,,,,,, marginally,,,,,,,,,,,,

Shimano make disposable products for a disposable society,at over inflated prices.

the wilsons rod holders for bullbars I've had to grind out as they don't fit any of my reels, I ground them out much wider then got some plastic tubing, split it and glued it in the slot to help protect the rods and reels. Would have paid extra if it was already done for me. Who measures up these things.

i've done exactly the same, one extra wide for the alvey plus 2 lined with plastic for spin rods

    Why is that shimano's fault?

Re: ummmmm,, mr shimano,,,i have a complaint

New holders should store there own products !

I installed a set of verticle rod holders on the side of the centre console only to find offshore rigs don't fit

Eastury rods fit but had to buy another set to put the rods in front of the console (not shimmano )

they have decided to ""flare"" the real seat leg on the new aernos range,,,

after the theft of most of my gear,,, i went out and purchased a swag of new stuff,,, (then i started getting some of the stuff back,,,,should've waited)

the aernos ""baby"",, the 2000,, no drama,,,, the 3000 no way,,, and the 6000's have bucklys

and yet the baitrunners in 2000/3000 and 4500 had no problems,,, the legs are the same width at the reel end,,, but flare out to give a larger ""finger hold"" on the new versions towards the seat

and surprise surprise,,, i called into the local bait n tackle to catch up on goss this morning,,, and most models across the board he stocks suffer the same problem

perhaps ""wilson"" should supply a complimentary disc grinder with each sale,,

i thought holidays were for rest n relaxation,,,,,,,,,,

Re: ummmmm,, mr shimano,,,i have a complaint

so its a wilson problem then.
Without the flare the neck would flex to buggery under load. then you'd have to whinge about the poor design of the shimano for not making the neck stiff enough .....can't win. Shimano & Daiwa have used a similar flare for years on the higher end models and Not once have i seen a reel advertising a special feature such as.....skinny neck that will fit your rod holder nicely without modification **Warning** may have abnormal flex under load.
Sorry choppa but you are having a lend, right?

    cheers Roo.

what me,, having a lend roo,,,,,,, nahhh

just peeves me off when you pay for something and then you've gotta spend more time/money getting it to work like it should,,,

if you had prior warning,,, fair enough,,,,, but for those of us that aren't aware that it doesn't do the job up front,,, why buy it

funny tho.... the local stocks 2 brands of holders,,,,, both had the same measurement across the gap,,,,??????????????

as asked above,,,, who designs these things?????

I'm with Roo and Jeremy. To do otherwise would be stifling development/evolution. If they think that flaired is better then flair away.
