    Navman Fuel sender install

Currently installing a navman fuel sender.
It says in the manual that the sender should be installed in a vertical position. In order to do this I have to have the fuel hose coming out of the filter going down, then up into the sensor. Is this likely to cause a problem with air in the line?

    thanks

    G'day

You will be ok with that What navman are trying to avoid with the installation by having the transducer vertical is removing the possibility of having air in the impeller.

Could be wrong, but there doesn't seem to a right way up for these senders. What I mean is, as long as it is vertical and the arrow points in the direction of the fuel flow it will work. I fitted mine pointing down from the filter and it works fine.

i installed mine as per manual suppied, has anyone had trouble with it stalling and having to do a factory reset to get it to read again, my 5605 kept stalling so it was sent back to madman for a software upgrade and has been working alright (besides some erratic reading but nothing to bad) for about 8 months, now it has started stalling again. it's was sent back after the screened died on it second use so at this point i don't have anything good to say (sorry about the crying)

It works any way up so long as the fuel arrow is correct. Great invention.

I am in the process of getting the Smarcraft hooked up to my Navman 6500, I can also install an optional fuel tank sender.

Has anybody fitted one? are they expensive?

My Stacer already has an in tank sender but it isn't Navman compatible and I would like to install the Navman one so I dont have to manually enter fuel input information and the Smartcraft / Navman fuel calculations are automajic.

RE: Navman Fuel Sender - single engine unit.

Buy them on e bay. The ones in the shops here are $150 plus, they were $54US last month with $22 US postage fees. They are presently $72US, they go up and down in price from time to time as demand increases, but still cheaper than here.

I got one from fishonmarine - sponsor of this area. I''ve got mine sideways and it seems to be pretty accurate, compare to the fuel sender. I was out but 0.5 litres from a 150L tank.

I got mine from this bloke, he was good to deal with. Pity I cant say the same about UPS. If you don't have a ZIP code, you can't email them and even when u fake a zip code they 'cant give out details via email'
