advice for confused beach angler

Hey

So i've been beach fishing a fair bit ay and have had alot of success with bream, trevally, whiting dart and flatheads.

just wondering if theres a rig/bait to use or way to use pilchards so that i can catch tailor and salmon without loosing the chance to hook up on bream, trevally and dart?

any advice would be of great appreciation as i dont have the time or funding needed to put the research in myself.

a standard old Bream Beach rig will catch Salmon no worries, and Tailor as well, but you may get a few bite offs, one guy I know uses a gang of small (1/0) hooks, he seems to get Bream and Tailor on that.

Straddie in june and Moreton in august.

I was using 3 gang 4/0 hooks with a whole pilly.

If I didnt get a tailor I got a bream (big fat buggers).

Like one of the members on this site says "If it cant eat a whole pillie ,I dont want it "

Have you tried fishing anchovies, frogmouths or white pillies on 2 or 3 ganged size ones?

This worked quite well for me on South Beach at Ballina this year, but take care how much pressure you put on a good salmon or the hooks start to bend.

the key to beach fishing like all fishing is to target a species, you can catch tailor dart bream etc etc on whole pillies but you would be better taking a couple of rig types and a couple of baits, if I am bait fishing I usually take a couple of different kinds, perhaps take some slugs for the tailor (dart/trevally take these too) and mullet or worms or prawns for the bream/trevally/dart, bream quite often feed under tailor schools so a little more lead will get your bait into there feeding area and they will take whole pillies happily. For the dart small slugs get me my best fish

Mowerman a whole pillie a large eating quality prawn or a whole squid is all that goes on my hooks but it is nice to see the message getting across.

When there are small tailor around and some big bream and trevs feeding under them, i will drop down to 4 x 3/0's which i find will hook up well with either species. But with bream you might have to jag them a bit more because the hook is bigger.
Also in this scenario, drop the sinker weight down significantly
