Good Fishing Charters in Cairns

Hi all,

Planning a 4-5 day trip to cairns and I really want to catch a Barra. I am wanting advice on good charters to take me out for a full day trip to chase Barra's in particualar, Threadfin salmon and Mangrove Jacks. We are going to be in a group of 3 and we want to target all fish using lures.

None of us has ever caught a Barra which is why we need to get a good guide to take us out for the day. We have fishing expereice but never in the tropics. Please any advice would be really appreciated.

Just be aware of the Closed Season for Barra. www.fishingcairns.com.au is a great place to start, where I got most of my info when I lived &fishing up there.

iTs closed season for barra, but yous should still do a trip cause theres still a heap of other fish you can catch, who knows yous may accidently catch one and have to release it.

Mate there are a few good river charters around up here. But as mentioned, there is that closed season thing!!
Impoundment barra dont have to abide by this ruling, and some research via google could take you to 'tinaroo barra' !!
