Awsome Just awsome...
tuggerah lakes is a red hot fishing destination. but for those how dont know how to fish think the place is rubbish. me and me mates have fished tuggerah lakes and believe that we know it pretty dam well. with successfull catches every time we go out. the gear we use is small threadline outfits, generally 2-4 kg rods with 2500 spinning reels, and 6lb braid matched with 6lb fluro carbon.
personally the reason to our success is LURES, lures are the best way to fish an aera. the lures we use are called ( quick get your pen and write this down ) softies rackgliders, in pumpkin seed colour, the best lure i have ever used, other lures will work, but i have had soo much success with these lures, i rarly give other lures a go.
i rig these lures up with a 1/0 hook with a 1/22 oz to a 1/32 oz berkley nitro jigheads. which r know fitted with owner hooks.
check out some pf the photos that i have attached, this is on a pretty good day out, but certinatly not our best.
hope this thread helped some of use out, and i will hope to see some of use out on the water
p.s if u ever see 3 blokes in a boat with an electric on the front, call us over, we will fill use n on the spots.
cheers

Heya Swaters
"i have had soo much success with these lures, i rarly give other lures a go"
I notice in another thread you are talking about getting into comp fishing. Unless you intend only fishing comps in the tuggerah lakes area it would pay you to try a lot more methods and lures. What works in one area often won't work in another, and then what worked today won't work in the same place on the tomorrow.
That's coming froma bait fisho so take it for what it's worth.
Well Done Mate
I grew up fishing the Tuggerah Lakes Mainly Budgewoi as you said the fishing is pretty good and its even better that most poeple ignore it for more coverted areas such as the Hawksbury Or Lake Macquarie.
What areas of the lakes have you been fishing?Iused to fish out a canoe with a mate and was aways paddling from one side to the other.
Do you mainly fish for bream or have you tried chasing some Eps.
I noticed also you were asking about ABT comps it will be good if they have one on the lakes one day but for now i would look at travelling down the coast and doing the hawkbury or sydney round if they do one next year.
Anyway let us know how you go in future sessions i still wonder about the lake sometimes.
thanks for the reply fellas
daniel i fish in tacoma river for ep's all the time mate, have caught 4 hah not many but they r hard buggers to crack, i am yet to catch a thumper.
i target mostly bream.
i do most of my fishing for them over at the entrance, just before the channel near pelican island. there are little drifts between the weeds, we always catch a resonable bag of fish.
i personally think if tugerah lakes were closed off to all commercial fisherman it would be the best lake on the central coast.
i have fished round budgewoi when i was a bit younger and inexperienced for jackets, caught the odd 1, was alot of fun. know i am into the more serious side of things, thanks for the reply i really appreciate it
cheers
i have tried atomic prongs in the pumpkin seed colour caught the odd flattie, but i have seen my mates catch bream and the odd whiting on them but i swear by softies rackgliders, they have always had good results for me.
mate I hlived there for 16yrs and the fishing has always been great, u just gotto think outside the square
people will always tell u the lakes r crap, and yes they could do with a clean up, but have always produced fish for me
nice catch also
Tacoma river is a mad place to fish i used to get heaps up around the mouth theres also plenty of Eps down towards the weir.
If you ever are up the other end towards Wallarah Creek have a go up there, theres plenty of fish its similar to Tacoma just not as long.
i totally agree its an awsome place, yeah we have caught a few perch there, i am yet to catch a thumper but i have caught the odd 1 spinning for bream but, there a welcome bycatch,
thankx
