Charlie,
I've had an iFinder H2Oc with a Navionics chart for about a year. Its a great unit in most ways - easy to use and plenty of features. Only possible complaint is that the screen is not easily viewable in bright sunlight. (OK but not brilliant)

Myde
I have a garmin 60c with pacific charts. Its great.
Pulling it out of the boat and uploading or downloading tracks and waypoints is a breeze!
However, its a versatile hand held gps. For boating, the screen is small. The buttons also.
We use ours on land and on sea, so it is a bit of a go between.
If you have the dosh, then a 'dedicated' marine GPS for boating would be the go.
There is a Garmin unit available with maps for around $600 I believe.
I have the H2O Lowarnce and is an easy to use unit , i haven't got the card with it thou as i use it as a back up for my larger boat and for when we use the tinny .
Have had no problems with this unit whats soever.
I did find it chewd batteries but works great with the 12 volt adapter

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges
Up here we Use Hussar as baits for real RED FISHS (SHSIIFDER)
I have ordered a Garmin GPS420 from the US but I am having trouble finding a Bluechart G2 visionvpc414s of Mackay to twofold bay.I did find them but they don`t ship to Australia and the only one that did charges $60 us shipping.
Go with the Garmin you will be happy.
Charts shouldn't cost $60 to ship.
