    Smile fraser Island

    G'day all,
we are heading to Fraser on Thursday night for the first time for 7 days of what ever the hell you do on Fraser.
We are camping around Eli creek with a family that has several trips under their belts.
Any advice that will assist our trip would be welcome. We are experienced beach campers and 4wd'ers but never "done" Fraser before.
I know that there is a fire ban except at designated spots, but is a brasier with heat beads allowed? the reason I ask is that you can take webbers so what is the difference.
    4 sleeps and counting,

It wll depend on if there is a totalfire band or not. If there is then you can only use a gas burner.
I would give the rangers a call to check.

I think braziers are specifically not allowed. The fire "container" needs to be completely enclosed around the bottom with no grill. I think. Check with the epa/qpws.

There are ' fire rings ' in certain areas in camping spots on the island and that is only where fires are allowed. You must bring your own " milled " timber.

The difference between a Brazier and a webber is that the webber holds the ash and the fire is not " exposed ".

Eli creek is now flowing out to the south and is fairly deep, definately a low tide crossing.

    Have fun,

    Cheers Phill
