Aplins barra
Got this one friday night, also lost one that night aswell, almost had a double hook up. This one was a tiny 69cm and got shared between me and my mate for dinner. No doubt would have gotten more but the stripies were in very short supply.

Re: Aplins barra
soaked it in salt water overnight and it actually ended up quite nice, only weedy bits were the dark brown meat. I reckon barra is overrated anyway but seeing its the only fish ive got at the moment I dont mind it one bit

Soaking in salt, didn't think of that. Spose it's like a marinade.

Re: Aplins barra
it sucks all the crap out the initial soaking gets very dirrty so have to empty and soak again, if you use too much salt it can get very salty. Yeah i got the tag here was gonna see what I had to do with it.

Re: Aplins barra
yep give the number on the tag a call and give them the tag number place of capture, lenght etc and suntag will send you a certificate of capture with relevant info of when and where the barra was tag when and if its been caught before etc.. its all pretty of interesting stuff and tagging fish is a pretty good hobby in its self..There's probably a good chance that one of us on this site have tagged it..cheers smithy..
